Soil Preparation

Preparation is a crucial part to establishing a new lawn or garden.

Any existing turf and weeds should be removed from the site, this can be completed manually and you can use a good quality herbicide. Ensure all existing grass and weeds are dead to avoid a later invasion into your new lawn.
Scarifying is recommended to aerate the soil and stimulate root growth of your new lawn. Depending on the quality of your soil you may need to purchase soil from your local supplier.
You may also want to consider installing an irrigation system which is best installed at this point prior to levelling. Installing an irrigation system can save you time and use a lot less water than your standard hose and sprinkler.
Clear the area to ensure the soil is free from debri. Using a large rake, ensure the soil is level and keep soil below any paths or driveways.
